With just one month to go until Ramadan, it's a timely moment for reflection, especially for those of us in leadership roles in organisations, private and public.
If you are a leader in an organisation, ask yourself:
- What preparations have we made for colleagues who will be fasting?
- Have we considered workload adjustments, flexibility, or wellbeing support?
- Are our teams and managers equipped with the awareness to support Muslim staff meaningfully?
- Have we created space for compassion, inclusion, and spiritual wellbeing?
- Have we anticipated the increased demand for prayer space, and are appropriate facilities in place?
Ramadan is not only a month of fasting; it is a period of spirituality, discipline, reflection, generosity, and heightened purpose. For many Muslim staff, how supported they feel during this month has a lasting impact on morale, loyalty, and performance.
Good leadership is about anticipation, not reaction.
Now is the time to prepare.
